Abandoned Buildings

North Island

Jess is a Wanderer drove almost 30,000km around New Zealand's north island in just about a year. Here are some of the best finds that are scattered around the country.

St. Stephen's Boarding School

After noticing the top of the building sticking out whilst passing on the motorway, further exploration lead to St. Stephen's Boarding School. What a find! And a privilege to get up close with a little bit of New Zealand's history.

Endean's Saw Mill

Located in the back of beyond (aka the wopwops as New Zealanders say), this abandoned sawmill and village is a fascinating look into NZ's timber history.
