Jess is a Wanderer at Hobbiton

Did you know that 22nd September 2018 was International Hobbit Day? Well, Jess is a Wanderer went to Hobbiton to celebrate. Here are the highlights!

We were encouraged to turn up to the event, organised by the wonderful folks of Hobbiton, in costume. So we raided every charity shop we came across in search of the perfect outfits. I think we scrubbed up quite well. There was a moment of anxiety as we boarded the bus and seemed to be the only two in costume. Fortunately, the other dwarves, elves and hobbits were making their own way to Hobbiton!

The organisers had a whole evening of entertainment planned. There was juggling, fire-breathing, music, dancing, an open bar, more food than was possible to scoff - no matter how many breakfasts, lunches and dinners you were willing to stuff down your throat.

Later, there were fireworks and we even had the pleasure of meeting Russell Alexander - the owner of Hobbiton himself. And what a pleasant chap he is. Do I recommend splashing out $300 for next year's event? Absolutely. You can book your tickets here - they're already on sale for next year! If you'd like to see more pics, click here.
