    The Hill of Crosses

Day 7: Jess is a Wanderer visits the Hill of Crosses What is the Hill of Crosses? The Hill of Crosses is a sacred pilgrimage site for Christians from all over the world. People travel to the hill to leave crosses in honour or memory of their loved ones. Others leave statues, monuments or messages for those who have passed on to the 'other side'. Over the years, more than 200,000 crosses have been piled up over the hill among Rosary beads, Jesus statues and other religious rel

    The Hostel of Doom

Day 6: Jess is a Wanderer arrives in Vilnius, Lithuania's capital Arriving into Vilnius FYI... it's still freezing. I'm still inadequately dressed. Isn't summer in Europe supposed to be wonderful? The kind of thing that people from other continents dream of: al fresco dining on a cobbled terrace; socks and sandals donning the feet of wide-eyed visitors; and red-faced sweaty tourists licking ice-creams on street corners? There's none of that here! Everyone (except us), it seem

    Riga: Latvia's Capital City

Day 5: From one Old Town to another, Jess is a Wanderer explores Riga... Arriving into Riga We hopped on a bus for 24 Euros from Tallinn's Bussijaam. An easy process to find and book tickets and WOW!!!!! What a bus. I'm not sure what the UK is doing but.... the buses here?! Power sockets, hot drinks for free, wifi, reclining seats AND a whole entertainment system with music, movies and TV shows, just like you'd find on an aeroplane! I was almost disappointed that the journey

Lahemaa National Park & Projekt Kodu

Days 3-4: Jess is a Wanderer heads out into Estonia's wilderness... We had only been in Tallinn (Estonia's capital) for a matter of hours before we heard about Projekt Kodu and just knew we had to visit. We'd already heard about Lahemaa National Park and decided that going there was high on our priority list during our time in Estonia. Why Projekt Kodu? An eco-lodge set in the heart of Estonia's largest national park, it has a sauna, free bicycle hire, funky yurts, campfire,

    Climbing Mount Snowdon

Jess is a Wanderer climbed Wales' tallest mountain on the worst day of summer... I went to university in Swansea and studied teaching in 2008 and graduated in 2011. During that time, I met a lot of people from all over the UK and stayed in contact with some. Fast forward six years and I've just finished working at a British school in Cairo, Egypt with three of my uni pals. Seeing as it is now the summer holidays and two of us are actually unemployed (yes, it gets more real ea
