Auckland's West Coast

The entire area north-west of Auckland is worth seeing. With beautiful beaches, clifftop views and some fabulous rocks to climb, there's something for every interest.

Our day started at Piha - renowned for being one of the best surfing beaches in NZ, we hadn't visited for the waves. We were there to climb Lion Rock, Taitomo Island and marvel at the bubbling sea foam.

Our second stop along the impromptu tour led us to Bethells Beach aka Te Henga. The tide was coming in but that didn't stop us from exploring the caves which are dotted along the beach. The weather wasn't on our side but we still had a genuinely great time. You can actually walk the Te Henga walkway which takes you right along the coast. Definitely heading back to do this when the weather is a little nicer.
