Rangitoto Island

Only six hundred years ago did Rangitoto dramatically emerge from the sea creating New Zealand's youngest volcano. A recent effort from the Department of Conservation has restored Rangitoto back to its original state and all pests have now been removed. Visiting Rangitoto is about as close as you can get to travelling back in time. Aside from the Scout Hut and simple toilet facilities, you might think you've stumbled into Jurassic Park territory as the views are just something else!
