Jess is a Wanderer headed down the east coast from Waimate in search of Moerkai's famous boulders. With the tide in our favour, we had a gloomy sunset and a sparkly sunrise to enjoy.
There's a cafe at Moeraki Boulders beach where you can enjoy all the usual treats after a long walk on the beach.
Not far from the boulders you can visit Katiki Point Lighthouse and the seal colony at Shag Point. If you're lucky you might even see some rare yellow-eyed penguins. We saw a juvenile bird on the beach and it was beyond exciting!
Shag Point was a real treat with penguins and seals and blue skies and beautiful water. Such a perfect day!
